When is the last time you forgot to take your medicine, or has to deal with patients who do not adhere to the prescribed medicine regimen? All of us often deal with this problem frequently in our personal or professional life.

50% of patients do not take the medications on time and 20-60% eventually drop out of the regimen. 30-50% of the medical complications are attributable to non-compliance and 1.25 million lives are lost every year in US alone because of this problem.

Well, Not any more, with the introduction of TinyLogics Memo Box Mini- the smallest and smartest pill box in the market now. TinyLogics is a small company formed by two students from Cambridge University, who designed this amazing gadget because their Mom often forgot taking the medicines and used to have complications because of her negligence.

TinyLogics Memo Box Mini was launched on Kickstarter earlier in February. The pill box consists of an outer case and inner cartridges that hold the pills or injections.  The Pill Box is compact, with three sections that can hold 3 large or 15 small pills, white in color and can easily fit into pants pocket or ladies clutch. It comes with a covered micro USB charging port on the back side. It has got a built-in lithium ion battery that lasts for a month under typical usage.

The outer case comes in various colors and custom made sizes, the inner cartridges can be designed according to consumer needs.

The Memo box is managed through a free Memo Health app for iOS and Android. The app alone can alert you about taking your medication but the box once added and sync increases the efficiency of carrying and taking the medicines on time.

Mobile App

The Memo box and app work just like our Central Nervous System. The cloud computing server acts like ‘brain’, the hardware which tracks the user's access to the box acts as ‘sensors’ and wireless bluetooth technology that sync the app, pillbox and server acts as ‘nerves’.

The cloud servers analyze the user’s data for his habits, and with time built algorithms to personalize the notifications and decisions. The algorithms that is learnt by consistent use is key for reminders and misplace alert by the system.

The memo box can be tailored to your personal needs so that it can carry more tablets, syringes or diabetes pen.

Here is the way the box and the app work together:
  • It notifies you if your loved one missed the dose.
  • It reminds you if you have left your pills at home.
  • It tracks that you have taken today’s dose or not
  • It alerts you if you accidentally go for double dosing with a red light and to take a missed dose with a green light.
  • If the Box is misplaced, you can ping it with your phone.
  • You can program the box so as it sends out a reminder at the set time.
Tinylogics launched the campaign on Kickstarter in early February and the pill box is available in market now. The prize of the basic white color box is $25. It can be ordered at http://store.tinylogics.com.
