Ethicon created its
first mass-produced sterile sutures in 1887 and have continued to evolve since
then. It has changed the way surgeons close the
wound because of its surgical technologies and
solutions that include sutures, staplers, and hemostats.
It is said that Ethicon
manufactures enough sutures each year to wrap round the earth six times.[1]
It has launched Stratafix Spiral PDS
Plus and Stratafix Spiral Monocryl Plus Knotless Tissue Control Devices that
provides a unique edge over traditional suturing.
Stratafix sutures enables more strength,
consistency, security and efficiency over its predecessors because the surgeon
can manage tension and control tissue approximation with each pass. It also
eliminates the need to tie knots.

through tissue very smoothly and are available in both bidirectional and a
unidirectional design with an adjustable fixation loop.

"I call it the suture of the
future," said James Dan Kondrup**, M.D., Minimally Invasive Gynecologic
Surgeon of Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, NY. "Any case where I can use
STRATAFIX sutures, I will."
The sutures are made with proprietary
polymers and coated with antibiotics to reduce the surgical site infection.

the standard of care for surgeons and the patients they serve."

strength and support for 4-6 weeks. It is absorbed in 180 days.
STRATAFIX™ Spiral MONOCRYL™ Plus
Knotless Tissue Control Device maintains strength for 1-2 weeks and gets
